Our Achievements
Since the company’s creation in 2007, Cardiff & Co has delivered a series of successful activities and campaigns that have helped raise the Cardiff city-region’s profile on the UK and international stage. Notable amongst the successes are:
- The creation of The Cardiff Commitment in partnership with the Millennium Stadium and Cardiff Hoteliers’ Association – an initiative designed to increase Cardiff’s attractiveness as a destination for major event organisers. The Commitment has already been instrumental in securing the future of the Speedway Grand Prix which is now committed to Cardiff until 2016.
- The development of a comprehensive web presence for the Cardiff city-region, promoting the area as an ideal destination in which to live, work, invest, meet, study, visit, shop and play. Attracting around 1.3m visitors each year, the web platform has presented all that Cardiff has to offer in a consistent and attractive way.
- The innovative use of social Media as a cost effective and engaging way of promoting the Cardiff city-region across the world. Twitter accounts, Facebook pages, YouTube channels, Flickr and Linked-In have all been used to extend Cardiff & Co’s reach.
- The establishment and exploitation of the Cardiff Ambassador Programme to harness people’s enthusiasm and passion for Cardiff and convert them into an extended sales force for the city. With the twin focus on promoting Cardiff as a conference and investment location, the Cardiff Ambassador Programme is a key element of the company’s efforts to out-do competitor city marketing companies.
- The harnessing of a creative and energetic PR campaign with engagement with UK-wide and internal Media at its core. The company has consistently managed to secure high value Media coverage with over £1.8m (Editorial Equivalent Value) generated in 2010-11. Over 2/3rds of that value was generated outside the Welsh media ensuring that more and more people are exposed to the Cardiff city-region product.
- The consistent delivery of over £1m of conference business a year for the city through the securing of major conferences and events. Working with the city-region’s hotels and venues, Cardiff & Co has managed to develop a strong team ethic across the city where the quality of the service and welcome shine through. Testament to the company’s success in building relationships is the fact that the city’s Hoteliers’ Association part-funds the position of Convention Bureau manager within Cardiff & Co.
- The building of a network of contacts in the London-market place on the back of quarterly Networking events and launches. Heavily linked with the Cardiff Ambassador Programme, these events offer the company the opportunity to develop and maintain relationships with key private sector individuals – many of whom with Wales / Cardiff links.
- The design and production of a strong core of marketing collateral for the city-region in support of all of the above activities and more.
