Our Partners
Partnership working, collaboration and realising a collective purpose and vision lies at the heart of Cardiff & Co and Cardiff's new approach to marketing and promoting the city. For Cardiff & Co to be sustainable it needs to successfully attract investors and contributions and generate additional income through commercial activities to boost the company’s operational budget.
A key priority for the company is to carefully manage relationships with key local stakeholder and Investor Members to ensure the effective delivery of contractual requirements.
Aims & Objectives
Cardiff & Co’s working in partnership objectives are:
- To raise income/resources by attracting local stakeholders and the private sector to invest directly in the Company.
- To engage professionally and meaningfully with the private sector through a range of commercial schemes and opportunities to secure fees and contributions.
- To manage and promote income earning systems such as Chaser (online delegate Accommodation booking system), a Venue Location Service (VLS), and a Destination Management System (DMS).
- To manage relationships with key partners and Investor Members to ensure the effective delivery of contractual requirements.

Cardiff Council & Cardiff Harbour Authority
Cardiff Council and Harbour Authority invests £500k / year in Cardiff & Co and plays a key role in the company’s strategies and plans. Cardiff Council’s Economic Strategy – Competitive Capital – sets the framework within which the company operates and identifies the key economic sectors for the city. The Council is represented on the Strategic Board of Cardiff & Co by Councillors Neil McEvoy and Mark Stephens.
Cardiff Hoteliers' Association
The Cardiff Hoteliers’ Association consists of 21 hotels and around 5,500 bed spaces in the city. The Association and Cardiff & Co work closely together to promote the city and attract major conferences and events. As part of this effort, the Association and Cardiff & Co has entered into a partnership that has resulted in the Employment of a Convention Bureau Manager funded jointly by both parties. In addition, the Association and Cardiff & Co have combined with the Millennium Stadium to launch The Cardiff Commitment – a pledge document designed to add further to Cardiff’s reputation as a major events capital.
Cardiff Commercial Property Forum
The Cardiff Commercial Property Forum was set up in 2004 as a collective voice for the property sector in the region, acknowledging the importance of the capital city as a driver of economic prosperity and investment, not only for the region but for Wales as a whole. Cardiff & Co was a category sponsor in the Forum’s Prop Awards 2008 and the two organisations are building an effective partnership based on their mutual goal of promoting Cardiff as a first class investment and business location.
Welsh Assembly Government
Cardiff & Co works with the Welsh Assembly Government on ad hoc marketing initiatives aimed at increasing investor confidence in the city and raising its profile as a business and leisure tourism destination. The major project undertaken in partnership during 2009 will be the joint funding of a project with the Financial Times that will see the publication of an editorial supplement titled “Doing Business in Cardiff and Wales” and an event at the FT’s London-based headquarters aimed at FTSE 350 company Chairmen and Chief Executives.
Millennium Stadium Plc
The Millennium Stadium is one of the three founder signatories of The Cardiff Commitment – the pledge document aimed at attracting major events and conferences into the city. The stadium is unique in that it sits 74,500 people, has a retractable roof and is located within the heart of the city centre. As a result, it forms a key part of Cardiff & Co’s promotional effort and allows the city to position itself with confidence amongst the world’s best event cities.
Glamorgan Cricket
Cardiff & Co is working closely with Glamorgan Cricket, Cardiff Council and the Welsh Assembly Government to exploit the marketing opportunities offered up by the hosting of the first Test Match in the 2009 nPower Ashes series. Cardiff & Co will continue to work with Glamorgan Cricket and other partners as they work to attract additional high profile games to the city over the coming years.
Cardiff Tourism Network
Cardiff & Co’s Cardiff Tourism Network consists of 142 businesses and organisations who have signed up as paying members in return for a distinct set of benefits including access to Cardiff & Co’s promotional tools.
