Npower Ashes Test Series: England v Australia
8 - 12 July 2009
The Ashes Series is the biggest cricket event in the world and was first played 140 years ago between England & Australia. Series are played at intervals of two years alternating between England and Australia. Cardiff is the first new venue for over 100 years and it will be the first time it has been played in a country other than that of the competing nations. This year, Cardiff will host the opener of the series at Sophia Gardens ground between 8 - 12 July. It is estimated that during the week of the Ashes 45,000 people will visit Cardiff.
