Ambassadors Gala Dinner hailed as a major success
Businesses across the Cardiff city region have praised the Ambassadors’ Gala Dinner held at City Hall last night. The event, with 400 guests and BBC director general Mark Thompson as the speaker, has been hailed as a major success.
Richard Thomas, managing director of Cardiff & Co, which runs the Cardiff Ambassaadors programme, said: “The reaction from businesses in the region has been overwhelmingly positive. This is the third year we have held this event and it really has grown from strength to strength.
“This year there was a significant concentration on creative and media industries. This was timely, because we are in the middle of the showcase @CreativeCardiff. We were able to welcome a large number of guests from Cardiff’s creative industries – a clear demonstration of the importance of the sector to the city region.
“We chose city hall because of its capacity and were delighted to be able to fill it. It was a glittering occasion, made possible by support from a number of generous sponsors.
“Cardiff University were the main sponsor, with Cardiff Council the venue sponsor. We are also pleased to acknowledge the support we had from, Curzon, PWC, First Great Western and Park Plaza Hotel. Our work depends on teamwork and by working together, these companies and organisations have shown their commitment to helping to promote the Cardiff city region.”
