Cardiff & Co appoints Roger Pride as interim MD

Roger Pride, director of marketing for the Welsh Government, is to lead Cardiff & Co when its managing director leaves at the end of next month.

Adrian Clark, chairman of  Cardiff & Co, a public private partnership set up to promote the capital city and its region to the world, said Mr Pride’s appointment would help the company build on its successes of the last three years.

He said: “Roger Pride is a highly respected and experienced marketing professional. His background in tourism and his close links to the Welsh business community through his work with the Welsh Government will be a huge asset for Cardiff & Co.”

He said an early appointment was important to the company so that there could be a hand-over period before the present managing director, Richard Thomas, takes up his new appointment at BBC Wales.

Roger Pride said: “As an existing board member, I already understand the company’s aims and I am looking forward to working to promote the capital city of Wales. I have been impressed by the achievements of Cardiff & Co over the last few years and I believe the company now has the potential to play an even more important role in the economic success of our capital city.”

Adrian Clark added: “Cardiff & Co will be looking to extend its links with businesses, to build on the work it has already done to attract new investment to the city Adrian Clarkregion and to cement the city’s growing reputation as a leisure and business destination. I look forward to welcoming Roger Pride to the team and to working with him to add to the company’s recent achievements.”

Roger Pride was director of marketing at the Wales Tourist Board before being appointed director of marketing for the Welsh Government when the tourism body became part of a government department. His present role includes marketing across the whole of the Welsh Government’s department for business, enterprise, technology and science.
