City marketing company welcomes new partnership
The establishment of a new body as the voice of major employers in Cardiff was welcomed today by Cardiff & Co, the company tasked with promoting Wales’ capital city-region to the world. The company believes that a strong voice for major employers in the city will help shape the city’s development over the coming 20 years which, in turn, will help ensure that the city is more marketable to potential investors.
Commenting, Bill Savage, Chairman of Cardiff & Co said,
“The Board of Cardiff & Co was fully involved in the initial discussions around the establishment of a new organisation to provide business in Cardiff with a strong and influential voice and agreed earlier this year the need for such a body and to explore ways in which we might work with it should it be established.”
“As a result, we welcome the formation of the new Cardiff Business Partnership and believe it has the potential to make a significant difference to the way the city evolves over the next 20 years. With over 10,000 employees, the founder companies within the Partnership are all impressive partners and make a significant contribution to the city’s GVA figures and as a consequence, contribute significantly to the Welsh economy. It’s good news that they’re coming together so that they can input in a far more meaningful way into policy and infrastructure development discussions at a local authority and Welsh Assembly Government level.”
“I also believe that the formation of the Partnership will help our agenda in promoting and marketing the city to the world. We noted in our initial discussions that most big cities have similar “business voice” type organisations and a strong and powerful private sector is one of the ingredients potential investors look for.”
Concluding, Mr. Savage said,
“Shortly, we expect to receive notification of continuing investment in Cardiff & Co over the next three years from our major funder. On the back of this investment we will be seeking additional public and private sector buy-in to the marketing of the city region. I hope our relationship with the Partnership will help that progress and that together, we can ensure that the perception of Cardiff outside Wales is not an outdated one of public sector dominance but is one of a city-region where the private sector can and does flourish.”
