Back to news list

St David’s Day celebrations kick off in Cardiff this year with a distinct emphasis on business.

Capital Cardiff, a conference for those helping to shape the future of Wales, will be at City Hall on February 29 to mark the start of the city’s St David’s Day festival

Capital Cardiff, which is now is its third year and is jointly hosted by Cardiff Council and the South Wales Chamber of Commerce, aims to promote support and funding for businesses, as well as inspiring entrepreneurs.

The one-day conference will include a range of opportunities for businesses to gain vital advice and networking opportunities, as well as a Dragon’s Den-style session where pre-selected start-up companies will get the opportunity to present their ideas to a panel of business experts and potential investors.

In addition to local businesses pitching their ideas, graduate entrepreneurs will be able to present their proposals on solving a particular business problem to local businesses, with prizes on offer for the best problem solving idea.

This year the conference’s keynote speaker will be Allister Frost, head of digital and marketing strategy at Microsoft and it will be the first seminar Microsoft has ever delivered in Wales.  Mr Frost’s speech will give an insight into how to use social media to connect with customers

Cardiff Council’s deputy leader and executive member for economic development, Councillor Neil McEvoy said: “Capital Cardiff will give a vital platform to businesses in Cardiff to gain the advice and support they need to grow and prosper, especially in these difficult times businesses are faced with.”

“It is important to emphasise just how much is on offer during this conference and we would encourage you to register your attendance and benefit from a range of business advisors, investors, networking opportunities and topical seminars that will all be at your disposal for free during the day.”
