New Management School unveiled

The Lord Mayor of Cardiff Cllr. Keith Hyde was the guest of honour this morning at an event to celebrate the unveiling of the new £20m Cardiff School of Management building at the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff (UWIC).

He was joined by more than 100 guests including members of the Welsh business community, key political figures and VIPs at the cutting-edge new building which has reinforced the university’s credentials as a leading centre in the UK for teaching and research in subjects including Business, Finance, Hospitality, and Tourism, and provides state-of-the-art facilities for more than 160 staff and 2,000 students over four floors and 7,800 square metres.

Speaking at the launch the Lord Mayor of Cardiff Cllr. Keith Hyde said: “UWIC is not only investing in itself but continues to invest in Cardiff - and we in the city are very proud of this. There are many new innovations in management today and I can see them reflected in this building. It will open many doors for students in their future.”
Designed by internationally renowned architects Austin-Smith:Lord, it includes two large lecture theatres with audio visual systems, three Harvard style lecture theatres, breakout spaces, a range of formal and informal learning and teaching areas, IT suites, a café with garden terrace, a professionally equipped training kitchen, restaurant and bar and cutting-edge research and enterprise facilities.
