Only Men Aloud join RWCMD for 60th Anniversary celebrations

Back to news list

The world’s most popular male voice choir, Only Men Aloud, many of whom are past and present Royal Welsh College students, gave a special performance of Happy Birthday as part of the Open House celebrations on October 31. They spent the first part of the afternoon in an open rehearsal, to the delight of those visiting the College.

The College’s year’s worth of celebrations has culminated in this Open House day, giving the public an opportunity to go behind the scenes at Wales’ National Conservatoire and Drama School.

The day featured a range of activities including backstage, college and hard hat tours, music recitals, playback of radio dramas, stage combat demonstrations and acting masterclasses. There were also opportunities to wonder at giant paper sculptures, enjoy performances from favourite musicals or take part in a studio recording session. For the musically minded guest, there was a chance to play a Steinway Grand piano, try a brass instrument or bang some drums, while those looking to glam up could try on some of our amazing collection of costumes. Interactive workshops allowed visitors to create their own compositions and there was a special Department Six exhibition of original art from the Doctor Who series.
