Red Dragon gets the Capital connection

Back to news list

Red Dragon, the Cardiff-based independent radio station that lends its name to the Red Dragon Centre in Cardiff Bay, is to join the Capital Network.

From January, Red Dragon will be called Capital FM. No decision has yet been made on naming the Red Dragon Centre, which is home to the Doctor Who Up Close exhibition, as well as restaurants, a cinema and a bowling alley.

Richard Thomas, managing director of Cardiff & Co, said: "Red Dragon has become a well-known and popular brand in Cardiff. It is great that the station is taking on the Capital name. It is based in the capital of Wales and serves the whole of South Wales."

The radio station is owned by Global Radio, which uses the Capital name for radio stations in London and other parts of England.
