Back to news list

THE University of Wales Institute, Cardiff (UWIC) has featured strongly in an essential national rankings guide, being named as one of the UK’s top new universities whilst managing to retain its position as top new university in Wales.

The 2011 Complete University Guide published in the Independent recently shows that as well as holding onto its top new university title, UWIC has leapt up the league table to be among the top three universities in Wales.

UWIC’s positive performance also means it is now in the top ten new universities in the UK.

The guide measures a range of factors including student satisfaction, research assessment and graduate prospects. UWIC performed particularly well in areas such as graduate prospects and high completion rates. UWIC’s ranking in the facilities spend area shows its commitment to providing state-of-the-art facilities for students, with a new multi-million pound School of Management building nearing completion for an Autumn 2010 grand opening.

Richard Moremon, UWIC’s Director of Marketing and Communications said:

“Students have many reasons to choose a university, with our research telling us that performance in university guides being a key factor and so it is fantastic to see UWIC’s excellent performance in this national guide. To be listed as the top new university in Wales again, and to move into the top ten in the UK, highlights our progress to date. With further investment in our facilities well underway, we hope that we’re well placed to continue to meet the demands of our students now and into the future.”
