Cardiff and Vale College, formed in August 2011 through a merger of Barry College and Coleg Glan Hafren, is one of the largest Further Education Colleges in the country, providing Education and Training for 25,000 people of all ages and a wide range of employers.

The College has specialist Training facilities across 11 sites, from Trowbridge in the East of Cardiff, to ICAT by Cardiff International Airport. Across the sites around 1,000 staff of industry experts and subject specialists offer an immense range of more than 1,000 courses - from vocational courses for school pupils, to full and part-time industry qualifications and degrees; in almost all subjects from Aeronautical and Automotive Engineering to Travel and Tourism. Cardiff Blues

Cardiff Blues are the professional regional rugby team who play their home games in the capital, at the £50 million state of the art Cardiff City Stadium. The Blues are ranked 4th in Europe and compete against the cream of European opposition in the newly formed RaboDirect PRO 12 league, as well as the Heineken and LV= Cup tournaments.

Cardiff City Football Club

Cardiff City Football Club play in the nPower Championship, the second tier of professional football in the English pyramid. They are the best supported professional team in Wales, averaging a 23,000 strong crowd to home League games. The Club came into existence in 1899 (then known as Riverside FC) and lifted the F.A. Cup in April 1927 when they beat Arsenal at Wembley. They were runners-up in the competition again in May 2008 and are currently enjoying their most successful spell in over forty years as they continue to compete at the top end of the Championship, edging closer to the Premier League.
