Employment

In recent years, Cardiff has experienced significant growth in employment, outstripping all of the English Core Cities between 2001 and 2006. Over this period, Annual Business Inquiry data showed a net increase of 17,000 jobs in Cardiff, of which almost 14,000 jobs were in the Financial and Business Services Sector.

Unemployment in the UK overall has fallen dramatically since the early nineties, stabilising at roughly 2.5% since 2002. In Cardiff, unemployment has also been steady, and has resulted from continued inward investment and the expansion of existing businesses in the area.
